Yelahanka: the airbase, Aero India and the business-hotel belt

What is here

Yelahanka is older than Bengaluru: Kempegowda I, the city’s founder, was born here and built a fort in 1537 before moving his capital south. Today it is a taluk of Bengaluru Urban district with the Indian Air Force station on the highway, Yelahanka Junction railway station about 15 km north of Bangalore City station, the Rail Wheel Factory, and a cluster of colleges including REVA University.

Aero India

Air Force Station Yelahanka hosts Aero India, Asia’s largest airshow. The 16th edition runs 8 to 12 February 2027. According to the official visitor page, 8 to 10 February are business days for business-pass holders, 11 and 12 February are public days for general-visitor passes, and the experience zone runs 9 to 12 February. Passes are priced on the official site and exclude GST.

For exhibitors and delegations the practical consequence is rooms: the airbase sits on the airport corridor and the show fills hotels for the week. Block early and plan transfers as waves, because the roads around the base are managed during the show.

Le Roma here

Le Roma Grandeur is an upcoming business hotel at Singanayakanahalli in Yelahanka; it is not yet taking bookings. For an Aero India 2027 stay today, Le Roma Samsara on the same corridor is the live option, and the journal’s Aero India 2027 guide covers it.

Getting around

• By road: NH 44 north to the airport, south to Hebbal and the city. Doddaballapur Road runs west.
• By rail: Yelahanka Junction on the Bengaluru–Hindupur and airport-side lines; useful for staff and day visitors, not for a wedding party with luggage.
• By metro: Yelahanka is a planned Blue Line station, under construction as of September 2026 with the airport section expected in 2028.
